Taylor Osher and Jeremy Beutler recently co-wrote “Preparing For 5 State Data Privacy Laws Coming In 2023” which was published in Law360. The article examines the five new data privacy laws coming into effect in five states in 2023. Beginning January 1st, consumers across these states will gain the right to access, delete and request their personal information in a portable format. Though similarities exist, each state’s law has its own nuances, meaning following one will not guarantee compliance with another. Under these laws, businesses must be transparent about the changes and provide notice to their consumers. As the finalized regulations begin to unravel, businesses are encouraged to begin their compliance efforts and continue to keep an eye out for these changes.
