Mark Brutzkus was recently featured in a Vogue Business article examining the looming trial to ban Chinese-owned social media platform, TikTok. The article entitled, “TikTok hearing brings potential US ban into focus for brands and creators,” explores the impact the app’s potential ban may have on companies and influencers who rely on the platform for their marketing needs.
Over the past few years, lawmakers have expressed security concerns over the platform, but there is limited legal precedent on what this may result in. Though the congressional hearings are still ongoing, Mark told Vogue Business “At this point, [brands and creators should] be prepared to leave the platform,” citing that a ban or spinoff app is likely. While many creators have focused their branding on TikTok, it is in their best consideration to diversify their social media strategies for the time being.
