Our History

Stubbs Alderton & Markiles, LLP was founded in 2002 by Joe Stubbs, Scott Alderton, Murray Markiles, John McIlvery and Greg Akselrud. Having built significant practices while together at Troop, Steuber, Pasich, Reddick and Tobey, LLP, a large regional law firm in Los Angeles, California, and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, LLP, a large international firm, the founders were determined to build a better platform to adequately service their emerging growth and middle market client base. They formed Stubbs Alderton & Markiles to focus specifically on providing unparalleled corporate, securities, mergers & acquisitions and intellectual property law expertise in connection with the representation of emerging growth and technology companies, middle market public companies, large technology companies, investors, private equity funds, investment bankers and underwriters, and clients in the entertainment industry.

Since its founding, the Firm has grown to as many as 17 lawyers, having recruited former partners and other colleagues from the nation’s top law firms.

The Firm’s mission is to provide technically excellent legal services in a consistent, highly-responsive and service-oriented manner with an entrepreneurial and practical business perspective. These principles are the hallmarks of the Firm.
